Why the GIPS standards?
The GIPS standards are voluntary and are based on the fundamental principles of full disclosure and fair representation of investment performance results. Global standardization of investment performance reporting gives investors around the world the additional transparency they need to compare and evaluate investment managers.

What We Stand For
Our mission: To build a level field of comparison by standardizing the way investment managers calculate and present performance to clients. The Standards evolve in response to investment industry changes; new guidance statements are constantly being created to help all parties understand how to remain in compliance.

Who We Are
The GIPS standards were created and are administered by CFA Institute, the global, not-for-profit association of investment professionals that awards the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)® and Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement (CIPM) designations. The success of the Standards is the result of an alliance among experts within the global investment industry and partnerships with country sponsors.

What We Do
The GIPS Executive Committee ensures that the Standards remain effective, useful, and relevant in the investment industry, responding to new issues as they arise.
